I Just Want to Write

I want to write something

That will shake people to the core

That will make them think and wonder

And leave them craving for some more

I want to write something

That conveys what I really feel

Where people understand what I want to say

And understand that it’s a big deal

I want to write something

That will change the world

Though they tell me it’s not possible

And there doesn’t exist such a word

I want to write something

That everyone will remember me by

Words that they’ll quote and misquote

Even long after I die

I want to write something

That leaves you feeling inspired

That moves you to take some action

Even if you’re completely tired

I want to write something

That manages to break through this dam

Because writing is all that I have

To make you understand who I am
